FIRST ALBUM
EVORTO
The band's debut album was recorded in mid-2016 and officially released on September 25th of the same year across all major digital platforms.
Although it lacks a single central theme, the compositions deal with recurring subjects, exploring themes related to Christian, Greek, and Sumerian mythology. It also features songs that touch on fantasy and the existence of the supernatural. Other tracks tackle concepts like nihilism and existentialism.
The songs were written from the band's early days back in 2012 and throughout their live performances over the following four years, always making their debut live before being recorded.
TRACK BY TRACK:
Witchour - Deals with skepticism towards the supernatural and reflects on the probable existence of a metaphysical world.
Afraid To Die - A more intimate song, it reflects on existentialism, pessimism, and fatalism, carrying a nostalgic weight where everything used to be good and slowly crumbled until the realization that our existence in this world is fleeting.
Arda - A symbolic song based on the universe created by Tolkien.
Acid Rain - An original story set in a post-apocalyptic future where the planet's surface is uninhabitable and the remnants of humanity live underground. A group of people then decides to sacrifice themselves, venturing to the surface to see that the sun still shines above the heavy clouds, even if it costs them their lives.
Utnapshtim - Based on Sumerian mythology and the story of the eponymous character, the centerpiece of a tale that would later influence the biblical event of the Great Flood.
Zealot - Talks about the biblical story of Judas, but from his perspective, turning him into a martyr and merely a key piece in the grand scheme.
Icarus - Based on Greek mythology, it tells the tragedy of Icarus, who, trapped on an island, decides to escape by building his own wings. However, flying too close to the sun, they burn up and he meets his tragic end.
Mold - Another highly intimate song, it discusses the pain of a toxic relationship for both parties involved.
Why Do You Insist The Sky Is Blue - The track focuses on the mental cycles of a lonely person.
Demons To Some - Based on Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" and the Cenobites, the central characters of the work who are present throughout the franchise.
